About Me

I am a professional pilot, holding a CAA CPL(H) and Instructor rating.

When I'm not flying for work, I fly for fun - I hold a fixed wing PPL(A) with IMC, Night and VP/RG ratings.

I came later in life to aviation, starting with a trial lesson in aeroplanes at 30, followed by my fixed wing licence. At this point I sold my business to pursue a career in aviation full time, initially working as an apprentice Aero Engineer for Airspeed Aviation Ltd at Derby Airfield. Then followed a trial lesson in the R22 helicopter, and I was hooked.

I gained my PPL(H) soon thereafter, and enrolled on the ATPL(H)/IR ground school course at Bristol.GS, passing all 14 professional exams at the first attempt, a little hour building on both the R22 and R44 helicopters and then my commercial licence training and instructor training.

I live in South Derbyshire with my wife and two daughters, conveniently within distance of Derby and Tatenhill airfields, East Midlands Airport and the excellent facilities at Nottingham Heliport.
